After a long karting career that began in his native Western Australia in 1996, Michael Patrizi has moved into the V8 Supercar Championship Series via a range of open wheeler racing overseas.

He debuted in Formula Ford in the NSW and Victorian State titles in 2004 before heading overseas to compete in Formula BMW after receiving a BMW Motorsport scholarship. Patrizi finished second in the Asian series and then moved to the UK championship for 2006 before competing for Team Australia in the final two rounds of the Champ Car Atlantic series. A year in the highly competitive Formula 3 Euro Series in 2007 has hardened the youngster, who made his V8 Supercar debut for the Ford Rising Stars Racing team in the inaugural Hamilton 400 in New Zealand last year.

The West Aussie found the category difficult in a car run out of the Ford Performance Racing workshop, but makes the switch in 2009 to Paul Cruickshank Racing. He will drive a Triple Eight built BF Falcon, the same car driven to third in the championship by Craig Lowndes in 2007 and to numerous top 10 results last year by Fabian Coulthard.
