After a long karting career that began in his native Western Australia in 1996, Michael Patrizi has moved into the V8 Supercar Championship Series via a range of open wheeler racing overseas.


He debuted in Formula Ford in the NSW and Victorian State titles in 2004 before heading overseas to compete in Formula BMW after receiving a BMW Motorsport scholarship. Patrizi finished second in the Asian series and then moved to the UK championship for 2006 before competing for Team Australia in the final two rounds of the Champ Car Atlantic series. A year in the highly competitive Formula 3 Euro Series in 2007 has hardened the youngster, who made his V8 Supercar debut for the Ford Rising Stars Racing team in the inaugural Hamilton 400 in New Zealand last year.

 

The West Aussie found the category difficult in a car run out of the Ford Performance Racing workshop, but makes the switch in 2009 to Paul Cruickshank Racing. 2009 was a difficult year for PCR which saw the closer of the team at the end of the season. Patrizi punched above what was expected for the teams limited resources in last half of season, leading the perth event and on for a strong podium until Engine dramas forced a retirment.

 

2010 saw Patrizi sitting on the sidelines though this did not stop him completly, Patrizi excepeted the offer to drive with Triple F Racing in the V8 Supercar Endurnace events scoring dean his best finiah of the season with a 14th. Patrizi also Formed his own Karting team Patrizicorse focusing on the KZ2 shifter class of racing and also the work with Young Perth Star Jake Klarich in the Junior CIK class.

 

In 2011 Michael Patrizi has Joined the McElrea Racing team to spearhead their Porsche Carrera Cup campaign. Michael will be joined by A1 GP star Jonny Reid. McElrea racing team owner Andy McElrea has big expectations of his team efforts in 2011. Patrizi's Karting team has expanded and features three drivers in the 2011 CIK Stars of Karting KZ2 championship. in only there 2nd event West Australian Pilot Daniel Currey scored the teams first Podium with a 3rd place.
